vivace MLT7387 heading up‘Vivace’ Reflex38 IRC Racer Sail No. MLT7387

The Reflex38 is a 38foot high performance IRC class racing yacht and was developed as a sophisticated race machine intended to race in the most challenging conditions. These yachts have recorded speeds in excess of 15 knots. The Reflex38 series were built during the 1999 season and were first used as race training yachts for clipper-ventures round the world crews. Having been released from fleet sailing these yachts have undergone a recent transformation with new navigation equipment and sails being fitted to make them some of the quickest boats in service.

There are 14 of these yachts in the world and most compete in all of the major yacht racing events through out the season. The Reflex38 is a British designed and manufactured yacht and regularly competes with and wins against yacht in it’s class such as IMX40s, Beneteau First 40.7’s, Prima38’s, Mumm36’s and J120’s. The Reflex 38 was built to compete in the IRC1 class and provides a fast and extremely challenging category to race in, MLT 7387 has the ability to make further gains in the 2011 racing season and has the speed and agility to win.

Regarding sailing the Reflex38 one of the most important skills when racing a pedigree racing yacht is balancing speed and control, as the two are often contradictory attributes. Successfully combining speed and control, alongside functional deck layouts and ergonomically sound interiors, is our definition of ‘performance’.

The Daily Telegraph’s yachting correspondent summed it up with The Reflex 38, a yacht that has the rare ability to shine in all conditions” when commenting on the yacht’s success at Cowes Week.
